Fantastic fantasy that begins a new series. Sylvi is the fourth child of the human king; Ebon is the fourth child of the pegasi king. They are bound at age 12, as tradition dictates, but they are also able to communicate clearly with one another which is completely unheard of and frightening to the human mages. Well developed world and complex, realistic relationships make this a treat to read.
