This is first in a new series that takes place in an alternate Old West complete with vampires, ghouls and the bloodhounds who track them down. Bloodhounds turn into ferocious beasts at the full moon and a different sort of beast with a tremendous sexual hunger at the new moon. When Guild inventor Nathaniel is kidnapped by a vampire bloodhound Wilder Harding is sent to rescue him. Satira is Nathaniel's unofficial apprentice - because women can be inventors. She is determined to go along to rescue Nathaniel too. Wilder and Nathaniel are immediately attracted but Wilder is determined to protect her perceived innocence. Satira wants Wilder and is willing to do anything to convince him that he is right for her.
