Angie Favorite hasn't had an easy life. Her mother disappeared on Angie's 11th birthday and even five years later no trace of her has been found. Now, Angie is almost kidnapped and injured trying to get away from her kidnapper. While she is recovering, she learns that the kidnapper Scott Bittner has committed suicide. When Bittner's mother phones to apologize for her son, Angie doesn't want to meet her. But she offers college scholarships to Angie and her brother and they reluctantly go to meet her. Weird things happen when they go to rich Mrs. Bittner's fortress-like home.
