After Finley Jayne uses her Other persona to beat up the young Lord who is trying to take advantage of her, she is running through the park and collides with Griffin King, Duke of Greythone, on his velocycle who takes her home with him. She finds that she is not the only one with unusual powers. Griff can see into the Aether where ghosts reside; Sam Morgan is very strong and has a lot of metallic parts after an encounter with The Machinist; Emily is a mechanical genius. She is trying to fit in even though Sam is very suspicious of her. The learns that her father and Griff's were friends and discoverers of an unusual substance which may account for their unique abilities. The Machinist is also a former colleague of their fathers and has turned to evil and madness. Finley, Griff and company have to find him and stop his evil plans. Great Victorian steampunk!
