This was back to old-school Anita. She and Edward are on a hunt for monsters with the Marshalls. The are tracking down Harlequin who are under the control of the Mother of All Darkness. The Mother of All Darkness wants to possess Anita and is trying to draw her away from her support network. However, Edward calls in Bernardo and Olaf to assist with the hunt. Of course, Olaf is a barely under control serial killer who is fixated on Anita and can't decide if he wants to date her or torture and kill her. Anita isn't happy with either choice. This was quick-reading urban fantasy for fans of the series.
