I really liked this very different paranormal romance. Katy has just moved to "Nowhere, West Virginia" with her mom. Her mom has a new job and it is a chance for them to move on after the death of her father. Katy is glad for her mom's new start but not sure that she wants to live in a small town. Things start to look up when she sees the gorgeous boy next door. Unfortunately Daemon isn't nearly as nice as his exterior. She does become friends with his sister Dee though. But things are just a little odd in the town. Many of the town people don't like Dee and Daemon and they seem really standoffish too. They both seem to be keeping lots of secrets. Daemon and his friends discourage Katy from being friends with Dee. It doesn't help that a few young women around town have disappeared too. Something strange is clearly going on. But Katy had no idea just how strange. Her neighbors are aliens who are hiding from other aliens who want to kill them by draining their energy and who are willing and eager to kill any humans who get in their way. I liked Katy. She was a strong, independent young woman with a pretty snarky attitude. She wasn't going to let Daemon have the upper hand and she wasn't going to let him push her around. I liked her realistic attitude when she found out that her new friends were aliens. I also liked that Katy was a book blogger. And Daemon... What a reluctant hero! He was determined not to get involved with Katy because humans and aliens don't mix and because she could be a danger to his sister. But the attraction between the two of them was sizzling. Trying to stay away from Katy is impossible when he needs to protect her from the bad aliens. This was a great story filled with interesting characters.
