Of Poseidon

Of Poseidon - Anna Banks Of Poseidon is an interesting paranormal romance. It starts off with a tragedy and ends on a major cliffhanger. Emma and her best friend Chloe are on vacation in Florida. Emma is sort of clumsy as evidenced by her tripping and running into the chest of a very hot guy and she is afraid of water but she lets her friend Chloe convince her to float out on a surfboard. Chloe is a noted practical joker. So, when a shark attacks, Emma first thinks Chloe is teasing. She has to overcome her fear and try to save her friend. She ends up displaying some non-human traits in her attempt. She talks to the shark and stays underwater way too long. The hot boy Galen who happens to be a Syrena prince can't get to her in time to save her friend. Galen does witness her non-human traits and feels a pull toward her that is unusual for humans. The story then transfers back home to the Jersey shore where Emma is trying to get over her best friend's death. Galen has followed her there because he believes she is a Syrena who is breaking the law by staying on land. He is the only one who has permission to do that since he is acting as an unofficial ambassador for his people. Galen is searching for a woman who has gifts like Emma to be the mate of his older brother but he soon wants Emma for himself. It was fun looking at how Galen, his sister and her mate adjust to living with humans. There are a lot of cultural misunderstandings that bring humor to the story. I really liked Emma. I liked that she was a blusher. And Galen really loved to do things to make her blush. I felt conflicted right along with Galen while he was falling in love with a woman who should be his brother's mate. I liked how they slowly learned about each other.I liked how the story of Galen's brother's tragic past wove its way into the events happening on land. I did have a pretty good idea of one of the plot twists before it happened which was a credit to the clues Anna Banks put in the story rather than my overwhelming intelligence. I will definitely be looking for the next book in this series because of the cliffhanger ending and because I want to know how things work out for Emma and Galen.I recommend this one to readers who like romances and have a fascination with mermaids.
